Wage: $16.00-$16.60/hour

Job Summary

Pearlgate Track and Field Club is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and community-minded individuals to join our team as full-time Facility Attendants for the summer season. Facility Attendants are essential to creating a safe, welcoming, and organized environment at our outdoor track and field facility. You’ll support community drop-in programming, coordinate facility rentals, assist with events, and help ensure the facility operates smoothly each day. This is a great opportunity for students interested in sport, recreation, and community development. Preference will be given to applicants with coaching experience. Applicants may apply for one of the following 8-week periods:

• Period A: May 5 – June 29
• Period B: June 30 – August 24

Two positions are available for each period. Please indicate your preferred period in your application.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the Pearlgate facility during drop-in hours and community programs.
• Move heavy equipment independently.
• Coordinate equipment access only for Pearlgate members.
• Set up and tear down for all Pearlgate practices.
• Coordinate equipment needs, and support coaches during Pearlgate practices.
• Facilitate and assist with facility rentals and act as on-site contact for rental groups.
• Coordinate setup and teardown of Pearlgate-hosted events and competitions.
• Support delivery of basic, inclusive, community-focused programming.
• Greet and assist members of the public, ensuring access requirements are met.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility environment.
• Enforce club policies and promote respectful facility use.
• Respond to incidents and report concerns to supervisors.
• Operate and assist with the electronic timing system during Pearlgate meets (training provided).
• Collaborate with coaches, staff, and volunteers to ensure positive user experiences.
• Work independently and as part of the Pearlgate team.
• Move heavy equipment and assist with physical work outdoors in various weather conditions (including heat, rain, or cold temperatures).
• Facility janitorial duties. 

Required Qualifications

• Current High School or Post-Secondary student (per Canada Summer Jobs eligibility).
• Available for full-time work (35 hours/week) for the full 8-week term.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Evening and weekend availability.
• Safe Sport – Direct Athlete Contact (NCCP training).
• Understanding the Rule of Two (NCCP training).
• Criminal Record Check.
• Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Standard First Aid Level C and AED Training.
• General computer skills.

Preferred Experience

• Coaching experience in track and field or other sports (strongly preferred).
• Participation in or familiarity with track and field.
• Experience working with the public and youth.
• Previous roles in recreation, sport, customer service, or event coordination.
• NCCP Run Jump Throw Wheel (RJTW) certification or other relevant training.

Pearlgate is proud to have all Facility Attendants registered with the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) with the Coaching Association of Canada. All Pearlgate Facility Attendants are required to complete "Safe Sport - Direct Athlete Contact" and "Understanding the Rules of Two" training. Additionally, all Pearlgate Facility Attendants must have a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
